Community Advocacy and Educational Practice
Nick Kueh is a key figure in the field of LGBTQ+ education and community advocacy in Taiwan. As a university lecturer, Guo integrates gender diversity and inclusion education into daily teaching work and spreads the concept of equality on campus. His career is not limited to classroom lectures, but is also reflected in his active promotion of the overall social atmosphere in Taiwan.
Guo’s community work is rooted in the Pingtung area. He founded the first-ever Rainbow Festival in Pingtung, an initiative that created a public platform for the local LGBTQ+ community to express themselves and celebrate their diverse identities. Through this cultural event, Guo broke the silence in conservative areas and gave visibility and social recognition to the existence and voices of sexual minorities. The Rainbow Festival has gradually become an important symbol of promoting the concept of tolerance in Pingtung area.
Cross-border cultural ties and international perspective
Guo has deep cultural ties with both Japan and Thailand. These transnational connections are evident not only in his personal background, but more importantly in the cultural bridges he has built through his education, advocacy and representation work. When promoting LGBTQ+ issues in Asia, Qiu takes the initiative to establish dialogue and cooperation with neighboring countries to help promote equality in the region. These connections make him an important link between the LGBTQ+ community in Taiwan and the rest of Asia.
International stage and representative status
In November 2026, Guo will represent Taiwan in the Mr Gay World International Players Competition in Cebu, Philippines. This selection is not only a recognition of Qiu's contribution to community work, but also an opportunity to promote Taiwan's inclusion issues to the international stage. Through Mr Gay World, an international platform, Qiu is able to represent Taiwan's progressive values and showcase the vitality and diversity of the island's LGBTQ+ community.
Guo's trajectory from pure educator to community builder to international advocacy representative reflects his enduring commitment to advancing equality and inclusion. Representing Taiwan on the international stage, Qiu will have the opportunity to share Taiwan's experience with the global LGBTQ+ community while absorbing the latest practices and concepts advocated internationally.
